Ausangate Trek 5 days Overview

Heartwarming welcome. In the next 5 days we will explore walking through the APU AUSANGATE and the mountains of colors called VINICUNCA. This is an impressive five day trek in the Vilcabamba mountain range on a route called «Camino del Apu Ausangate» which is located near the highest sacred mountains in Cusco. The Apu is the bearer of life and the guardian of one of the most diverse virgin mountain ecosystems in the world. Unlike the Inca Trail, the Ausangate Trek does not require a permit. The hike is one of the quietest in the area and you probably won’t see any other hikers.

The hike features a variety of wildlife, including flying condors, vicuñas, bobcats, and cougars. Campsites are often found near beautiful blue lakes. You also get the chance to see Rainbow Mountain! The colorful sandstone mountains of the Vinicunca region are probably the best thing you’ll see in Peru!

Travel Guide

Ausangate (6,333 m above sea level) is located in the heart of the eastern Andes south of Cusco and is considered the Apu or tutelary deity of the rural peoples of the Andes in southern Peru. We asphalt a road with a part that is the access to this fixed one, we take the road to Tinki . You must be in good physical shape for this trek as it can take seven to twelve days and you will also experience variations in altitude and temperature.

Experience as an agency becomes a safe business and you can always rely on our services, just like local tour guides. You can see both a spectacular Andean landscape and the Quechua peoples who continue to live in typical ways (development of municipal agriculture and breeding of llamas, alpacas, vicuñas, etc.).

Ausangate Trek 3 Days is for those who have trekking experience and don’t have much time; You walk most of the day. You will traverse 3 mountain passes, pass hundreds of wandering alpacas and llamas, and traverse wonderfully varied panoramas that change daily from snow-capped peaks to neon-red desert mountains and swampy pampas. The real reward, however, is when you reach Rainbow Mountain, hidden deep in the Andes. This mountain represents a rainbow and is so captivating. It will completely surprise you.
